The City of Sherbrooke has given the Corporation de gestion CHARMES responsibility for monitoring the quality of the waterways throughout its territory. CHARMES is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to maintain and make accessible aquatic environments, shorelines and riverbanks, and other natural environments of interest to the public. They work to improve the environmental quality and planning of these settings. They also have a mandate to make the public aware of the environment and the need to respect it.
The board of CHARMES is made up of eight members, two of whom are municipal councillors and six members of the public, supported by a resource person delegated by the City of Sherbrooke.
